B & E Development, LLC handles all aspects and types of construction. The company was born from the idea of how two brothers could be in business together. Bill had all the business skills and some construction skills, Eric had lots of construction skills. In 2000, the real estate market was very strong. We decided we would find an investor and start buying, fixing-up and selling homes. We bought our first Investment property in Saranac. We successfully fixed it up and sold it for a profit. From there we grew, buying, renovating and selling more investment properties and along the way keeping a few for ourselves to use as rental income investments. Since then we have built several new homes from the ground up and done many, many renovation and remodel projects for customers, residential and commercial.
Owners: William Jost and Eric Jost
Bill and Eric grew up in Burke, NY in a modest farm house on a dirt road in farm country. Our nearest neighbor lived 1 mile away. We both attended Franklin Academy High School in Malone. Growing up in the country and working on the local farms has taught us both a deep respect for nature and a serious understanding of what hard work really is. We believe in honesty, integrity and the commitment of a handshake and your word.
After high school, Bill attended Vermont Technical College in Randolph Center VT. There he received an Associates degree in Architecture and an Associates degree in Civil Engineering. From college, he drove to California with his best buddy Jeff to try their luck out in the big world. After a year in California, he was hired to manage a company in Guam that he was already doing business with. He and a partner soon bought the company and shortly thereafter started a second business. In 2000, after nine years in Guam, he decided it was time to move back to upstate NY, where his heart had always been. He decided the Plattsburgh area was the place for him. He and his brother Eric bought their first investment property in Saranac and that’s when B & E Development was born.
After high school, Eric attended North Country Community College and SUNY Canton in pursuit of a Criminal Justice degree. He soon decided that college was not for him and over the next 10 years worked for a variety of construction companies, including 4 years in Guam working alongside his brother. Through the years, he acquired a wide array of skills and qualifications in all aspects of construction. In 2000, he started B & E Development with his brother. He is happily married to his wife Liz and they have 2 children. Eric is a true farmer at heart and to this day still cares for the wide array of animals on his hobby farm.
